Back!

Ok... So, I'm back... Finally...

In case you've been wondering where I've been, I've been in Chiang Rai & Chiang Mai (Thailand) from 11 - 16 May 2008! :)

Basically, the details were as follow:

Date: 11-16 May 2008
Day: Monday - Friday
Venue: Chiang Rai and Chiang Mai (Thailand)
People: Me, My nephew, mom, my grandparents

Not much of things/stuff to report, since I'm not there to relax... :(

Anyway, the summary are below:

11 May 2008

Left home for the airport at 1215. Plane was suppose to fly off at 3+pm, but then, since there's a requirement to be at the airport 2 hours earlier before flying off and we were meeting my grandparents there as well, we ended up there at 1pm.

Ended up chatting with Xiaomei and Candy via smses... :)

Anyway, seems both of them have bought new HP (LG Viewty)!!!

WoohooO~!

Xiaomei's one is silver while Candy's one is pink!

Wow... Specs not bad... But, both complain that the HP's ringtone's unable to ring the whole song though... :(

(Opps! Seems I've sidetracked...)

Ahhem... Anyway, reached Chiang Mai in the evening. met my uncle and the whole family there, ate dinner and went on a 3 hours ride to Chiang Rai...

Reached Chiang Rai and my uncle's residence at about 11PM-12AM....

Not much to describe here, except that everything was pitch dark, as we were in a village and there were no head lamps/lightings at where we were...

Really couldn't even see 100 meters in front of me. :P

Anyway, here's a view of my bedroom:

Dead to the world... ZzzzZ

12 May 2008

Ever wonder about why there are chicken nuggets, chicken burgers, chicken chop??

My reasoning is...

The chickens must had irritated people in the past with their crows from 6AM onwards everyday until people couldn't take it anymore.... (a bit sadist, I know... ~.~''')

Anyway, was woken up at 6AM by the roosters (read the plural form)... So, roosters DO crow from 6AM onwards...

I was ok... My nephew woke up screaming and crying cos he had never heard a rooster crow, much less so near to him... lol~

Well, went for a little walk about... The village is like a travel back to the distant past....

Chickens, roosters, one horn beetle (only the males have horns), cows, pigs... etc.

Oh yeah... And LOTS and LOTS of bugs (come to think of it, there's no mosquitoes though...)

Uncle hired a driver and we went to a few places like Mae Sai,and into Myanmar! :)

War Musemum's entrance:

Myanmar's entrance:

First thing's first. Please note that the checkpoint closes at 5PM THAI time, and it's not open 24 hours!!!

Not much of an interest there since we had only less than 1 hour to enter and exit, bought a couple of bags to give to my female colleagues and my sister... Wait till I take some pictures of the bags! There're BEAUTIFUL!!!! lol~! (will post pictures of them shortly. I went back to Chiang Rai and Chaing Mai town but couldn't find them... :( Maybe I didn't search hard enough~)

13 May 2008

Stayed at the village the whole day, was raining, hence, not much to explore... T.T

Life's really peaceful though... It's like, time has just stopped moving forward...

If you want to eat, a chicken for example, you get the chicken FRESH! I didn't have the opportunity to witness how a chicken is killed, but I saw the process of how to get the feathers OFF the chicken and a chicken's inner body (intestines, livers, etc) up close.

Went for a trip to the shopping centre in the evening as it was my youngest cousin's birthday... Unable to shop as my nephew was crying nonstop... :<

Went back and ended up chatting with my uncle and auntie till late morning.

Along the way, witnessed a firefly (can't understand why the firefly's a loner though...) and a tok kei up close(something like a lizard... its cry is like... tok tok tok... (for a while) before ending off with tok kei! Hence the name :) )

Slept at 1-2 AM...

14 May 2008

Spent the top half of the day with my uncle, auntie, and clearing the lagguage before going to Chiang Mai...

Reached Chiang Mai at about 4 PM, checked in and went out of the hotel to find that it was raining...Back to the hotel... Siannn~! :(

15 May 2008

Mom booked a day trip, went a few places of interest (saw the tribal people, visted a cave, orchid farm, etc.)....

One of the Orchid Farm's orchid:

Came back at around 7PM.

Again, it was raining and missed the night market as a result. Ended up sleeping EARLY... Double sian...

16 May 2008

Packed and left for the airport as we were taking the 12PM+ flight home...

Conclusion??

It was a waste of money for me... Mainly because our actions and travels were hugely limited by my nephew and my grandparents...

Other than visiting my uncle and his family, we did not go to town much and visit any places of interest as my grandparents are old and my nephew is too young to travel for long before screaming the roof down...

As there were not much shopping, was not able to find the stuff that were requested... Sad...

But then, I really love the village and the life there at my uncle's place...

It's slow pace, not that advance like Singapore, sometimes there's an electricity failure(didn't happen when I was there though)....

But then, it suits me fine, surprisingly....

Maybe I should consider working and living there like my uncle and his family.... Hmm....
